WATERSPORTS NIRVANA.
For a thousand years, outrigger sailboats called paraws shuttled intrepid
merchants and explorers across the Malay archipelago, and the heady mix of
wind and water continues to beckon to adventure sportspersons around the world. An island vacation to Boracay is a great way to pick the rudiments of any sport
that involves either wind or water.
One of the people behind The Boracay Beach Resort is Nenette Graf, an
international windsurfing champion and "Asia's Fastest Woman", who also
operates a windsurfing and kitesurfing school on the island. She and her team of international instructors can teach aspects of either sport to all levels. For the
initiated, she also offers top-notch equipment rentals for both sports.
WILD ON WINDSURFING!
Every January, the Asian windsurfing community comes together on the island for
the Boracay International Funboard Cup. Nenette and the Boracay Beach Resort
are a big part of this international media event, which brings a hundred
windsurfers from around the region to a week-long festival of windsurfing races
and nightly parties.
Nenette herself is a local champion, and offers the participants a hearty welcome
year after year.
